I know this page is too late to submit to Jess and Tracy's Taffetas Winter Contest, but since I already had the second page partially done I wanted to finish it, anyway.
The coloring style of this comic is a bit different than most of my other work (Not necessarily the flat colors, but I experimented with color effects for the black love magic Elena's performing on Veil). I like it, though it's a little hard to replicate consistently. I had to keep checking the first page to remember what I did.
And it's supposed to be Elena talking in the first panel, though I realized after the fact that there was no good place to squeeze that speech bubble without making it look like Veil was talking instead. So I pushed it down hoping that it might imply that the bubble belongs to Elena though it kind of looks more like Veil's bright yellow scarf is the one speaking. Whoops
I hope you like it!! And if you like these characters but don't know who they are, then head on over to The Taffetas Production Blog or their Tumblr to get the scoop on the story and concepts for these awesome characters!
aaah! Dana this is so flippin awesome! Thank you so much! I did notice that the colors seem different than your usual work, and I really like the effect! I think you should continue to experiment and push the gradients and lighting techniques you used. This is so wonderful, really. You show a natural knack for comics. I just love this ;w;/. Thank yooou.
Hahaha I love that little icon! It's so cute! I'm so glad you liked the comic and color effects! Thank you! I definitely want to keep experimenting with colors and lighting. *-* Awww you're so nice! Comics are super hard for me to do, but while thinking of what to do for yours and Jess' Winter Contest, this is what came most strongly to mind.
