Here's another Fire Emblem work in progress, this time Haar and Jill. They have a sweet, brother/sister relationship. Haar's known to be lazy while Jill can be a bit high strung. In the game, there's a scene where Haar tells her to make sure she gets plenty of sleep, because "sleep is important."
It gave me the imagery of a child falling asleep in the back of a car while the parent is driving. And that was the type of feeling I was hoping to get with this piece. I tried making Jill's posture relaxed and comfortable, though I struggled a bit with Haar's positioning. I didn't know if I wanted him awake or asleep as well.
Keeping his head down and eye open made him look too somber/sad/angry/cunning and emotions other than simply relaxed (which was the feeling I was trying to evoke.) I thought about raising his head and having him look straight ahead as if he was driving her home while she slept, but it still made him look too tense. Also, I figured it'd be out of character for someone as lazy as he is to stay awake the whole ride. Besides, I liked how his head's resting on top of hers.
Of course...her wyvern is probably flying nearby, off screen somewhere. >.> Jill hasn't yet mastered the art of piloting a wyvern while asleep.
Wow, this is so... amazing. It's nice to actually see a picture of the trust and strong sibling-like relationship between them.
I suppose it's a good thing Haar's wyvern is used to flying with a sleeping rider, though. xD

Oh the stories we were told
quite a vision to behold
Mysteries of the seas
In her eyes of gold
In a shade of mossy green
Seashell in her hand
She was born the river queen
Ne'er to grace the land
